Product certification and conformity assessment for the European market (CE marking)
Timber Research and Development Institute, Prague, s.p., is Notified Body No. 1393 responsible for the assessment of products placed on the European market.
The following information is for guidance only. They are not to be construed as an interpretation of laws, regulations or other documents.
The European market for construction products is covered by Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council (CPR). The obligation to assess under this Regulation arises when requirements are imposed on a product in:
- harmonised Czech (European) technical standards
- European Technical Assessments (approvals) (ETA).
Once the requirements have been met, manufacturers are entitled to mark their products with the CE mark.
Notified body No 1393 is authorised to assess these products:
- wood-based panels
- wooden poles for overhead lines
- Lightweight beams and columns made of wood-based composite materials for use in buildings
- prefabricated staircase assemblies
- timber frame and timber framed prefabricated building assemblies
- structural elements made of grown timber
- prefabricated wood-based sandwich load-bearing panels
- self-supporting composite lightweight panels
- timber and laminate flooring
- structural glued laminated products
- windows and doors

RAL certification
We supervise the production of wooden buildings and containers for export to Germany according to standards:
- RAL – GZ 422/1 Part 1: Manufacture of prefabricated parts
- RAL – GZ 422/2 part 2: Assembly of prefabricated parts
- RAL – GZ 613 Steel construction systems
We represent the Bundes-Gütegemeinschaft Montagebau und Fertighäuser e. V. (BMF), a quality association of more than 100 certified manufacturers in these fields, on the Czech market.

Testing laboratory is included in a list of approved laboratories by IKEA for determining formaldehyde emission according to ASTM D 6007-14, EN 717-1, EN ISO 12460-3, EN ISO 12460-5.
In addition, the testing laboratory focuses on:
- examining and testing of chemical wood preservatives with protection against biotic pests, fungi, insect, moulds and fire,
- tests of technological properties and parameters of impregnations,
- analyses of wood preservatives and aqueous solutions
- tests of joinery products: windows, doors, pallets, etc.
- testing of wooden buildings and building products: glued beams, panels, roof structures, etc.
- tests of coatings, adhesives and bonded joints,
- fire tests of building materials, fire protection coatings, cladding, etc. (determination of fire resistance and degree of flammability),
- tests of emissions and formaldehyde content.
Testing laboratory is authorized to prepare expert’s opinions in selected timber industry fields.
Testing laboratory closely cooperates with Authorized Body No. 222 in assessing the conformity of selected products in accordance with Act No. 22/1997 Sb., to regulate technical requirements for products, and with Notified Body No. 1393.
