{"id":7014,"date":"2025-05-26T10:20:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-26T08:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vvud.cz\/looking-back-at-the-meeting-of-european-certification-bodies-for-carb-epa\/"},"modified":"2025-05-26T10:20:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T08:20:13","slug":"looking-back-at-the-meeting-of-european-certification-bodies-for-carb-epa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vvud.cz\/en\/looking-back-at-the-meeting-of-european-certification-bodies-for-carb-epa\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking back at the meeting of European certification bodies for CARB\/EPA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>15th meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.arb.ca.gov\/\">CARB<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/formaldehyde\">EPA<\/a> European Certification Body (CETPC)<\/strong> group took place in <strong>Bor\u00e5s<\/strong>, Sweden, on <strong>8\u20139 May 2025<\/strong>. This platform brings together 14 certification bodies from across Europe that work in accordance with the American requirements of CARB and EPA \u2013 in particular to control formaldehyde emission limits in board materials.<br \/>\nIn the Czech Republic, the only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vvud.cz\/en\/product-certification-and-conformity-assessment\/#certifikace_epa\"><strong>representative is the D\u0159eva\u0159sk\u00fd \u00fastav<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was, as always, an opportunity to share experiences, unify certification procedures and discuss specific problems that certification bodies solve in practice.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also featured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Online participation by the American certification body CPA (TPC1)<\/strong>, who shared their perspective and approach to certification in the USA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Workshop with model situations<\/strong>, e.g. changing the adhesive supplier or using multiple types of adhesives \u2013 with the aim of defining a uniform approach to assessing these cases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A contribution from IKEA<\/strong>, presented by Anna Kozyrkova. She presented the upcoming changes to the IOS-MAT internal standards, including an emphasis on:<\/li>\n<li>formaldehyde-free foils,<\/li>\n<li>use of recycled materials,<\/li>\n<li>a new approach to test reports (including attaching photos),<\/li>\n<li>and adapting the requirements to REACH legislation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important to emphasize that CETPC is a voluntary platform \u2013 membership is not mandatory or legally binding. Nevertheless, it is of great importance for the quality, transparency and uniformity of certification in Europe.
