Invitation: Wooden Buildings Day in Zvolen

We would like to invite you to the 7th annual conference and exhibition Deň drevostavieb 2026, which will take place on March 10, 2026, at the Technical University in Zvolen.

This is the largest professional event in Slovakia dedicated to wooden structures, prefabrication, and modern technologies in construction. Under the motto Prefabrication – Technology – Detail, this year’s program will once again bring you the latest trends, technical solutions, and inspiration from across Europe.

Luboš Drahňovský, an expert from the Timber Institute, will give a lecture on the topic Wooden buildings without hidden risks: What can designers and builders influence through structural wood protection?

You can look forward to 16 expert lectures, practical demonstrations, case studies, and topics focused on prefabrication, modern technologies/programs/approaches, structural wood protection, and details as a key element of high-quality timber construction.

The Timber Institute advises on structural protection for timber buildings at the For Wood trade fair

The Timber Institute continues its long-term cooperation with the For Wood trade fair, which specializes in current trends in timber construction, structural systems, and innovative materials. The trade fair will take place from February 12 to 14 at the PVA Expo Letňany exhibition center.

As part of the professional program, visitors can also look forward to a lecture on practical experience in the inspection and assessment of wooden buildings.

When: On Saturday, February 14, at 11:30 a.m., Luboš Drahňovský, an expert from the Timber Institute, will give a presentation on how a properly designed structure determines the quality and durability of a wooden building.

Where: Accompanying program of the For Wood trade fair, PVA EXPO PRAHA Exhibition Center, Beranových 667, Prague 9 – Letňany

The lecture will offer a look at wood protection through thoughtful structural design and explain why it is necessary to implement it. Emphasis will be placed on the influence of moisture, the method of installing wooden elements, and their exposure to weather conditions. Specific principles for preventing damage to wood due to climate, sunlight, or biological attack will be presented.

Are you interested in wood protection? Then take a look at the new handbook from the experts at the Wood Research Institute.

Every year, experts from the Wood Research Institute assess hundreds of completed wooden structures. These inspections provide experience with structural deficiencies and hidden causes of defects, which the lecturers will share.

The main goal of this activity is to improve the quality of wooden buildings in practice and to systematically transfer knowledge to everyone involved in their construction, from designers to investors.
