Waste Forum and Wood Symposium

The 20th anniversary edition of the Waste Forum symposium will take place April 21–23, 2026, in Hustopeče at the Amande Hotel. The main theme will be research and development outcomes for industrial and municipal ecology.

The program will also include a thematic block titled “The Second Life of Wood,” which will focus on the possibilities for material and chemical utilization of wood waste, furniture recycling, the use of wood from demolition sites, and issues related to contaminated wood.

There will also be a technical lecture dedicated to the use of recycled wood-based materials in new products.

On Wednesday, April 22, Marek Polášek from the Wood Research Institute will give a lecture on the topic “Getting Started with a Product Made from Recycled Wood.”
He will explain the options for demonstrating performance parameters and health safety for newly developed products that use wood-based recycled materials.

The Wood Research Institute can assist a wide range of wood product manufacturers, including helping them meet the strict requirements for products made from wood chips or wood recyclates. For example, suppliers to IKEA must meet the demanding requirements set forth in IKEA’s technical specification “IOS-MAT-0010 Chemical Requirements.”

The symposium traditionally focuses on presenting the latest research and development results in the field of industrial and municipal ecology. This year, the emphasis will be not only on waste, water, and air protection, but also on the application of circular economy and sustainability principles in key sectors such as the food, automotive, and wood processing industries, as well as the management of hazardous and radioactive waste.

The event is intended for research experts, representatives of companies and public administration. It offers a space for sharing knowledge, establishing cooperation and finding practical solutions for implementing innovations in practice.

Come and be inspired by the latest trends and research results in the field of sustainable waste and resource management.

The event is organized by Třetruka.cz, the author of which is CEMC – Czech Ecological Management Center.

Details about the event can be found here on the organizer’s website.
