Legislation and common sense – conference Wooden buildings in Volyně
/0 Comments/in News /by Ivana DuchoňováOn April 4-5, 2023, the important conference Wooden Buildings, which has been organized for the past 24 years by the Volyně Vocational School in cooperation with the Regional Office of ČKAIT České Budějovice and other partners, will be held again.
The Director of the Timber Research Institute, Mrs. Ing. Jitka Beránková, Ph. D., will present a paper on “Wooden buildings – legislation and common sense”.
Experts from Canada, Finland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic will give lectures at the seminar. Simultaneous translation will be provided for participants from the Czech Republic. The seminar is intended for designers, architects, investors, manufacturers and the general professional public and is included among the accredited educational programs for CKAIT members.

Invitation to the Salon – Timber Construction Show
/0 Comments/in News /by Ivana DuchoňováThe Timber Research Institute has once again become an expert partner of the Salon of Wooden Buildings, a project connecting modern wooden buildings, architecture and responsible lifestyle.
On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, there will be an opening and lecture evening at CAMP in Prague. In addition to lectures by prominent architects, there will also be speeches by politicians, representatives of the Norwegian Embassy in Prague, and the Austrian Cultural Forum. Entrance to the event is free.
This day will also mark the opening of the outdoor exhibition associated with the art exhibition, which will be open to the public until 17 May.The exhibition will be located on Václav Havel Square in the arms of the now historically valuable building of the New Stage of the National Theatre.
The official opening of the exhibition will be connected with the lecture Day of Wooden Architecture on 20 April between 1 and 8 p.m. in the New Stage of the National Theatre.

Wood as a building material in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
/0 Comments/in News /by Ivana DuchoňováIn order to start a debate on the future of wood as a building material and the revision of Czech building fire safety regulations, an expert seminar with the Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela, representatives of academia, the banking sector, developers, the Czech Agency for Standardization and the Finnish Embassy was organized on 10 January 2023 in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
The seminar was held under the auspices of the Chair of the Committee on the Environment Jana Krutáková and MPs Tomáš Dubský, Josef Fleek and Lukáš Vlček.
Most of the building materials currently used are made from non-renewable resources and their production is highly energy intensive, wood grows and consumes carbon dioxide, contributing to slowing down the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Wood from well-managed forests is a renewable raw material and its use is environmentally friendly. The problem is, among other things, fire safety regulations, which are much stricter in this country than in the countries mentioned.
Representatives of the Timber Research Institute were also invited to the event. Director Beránková actively commented on some points in the discussion.
